About Us

Great beer, great food, great community.

Please see our current blog for more up to date info!

The Townhouse Pub is a proper "local," a community supported restaurant, and a place to enjoy the renaissance of craft brewing and local food.

We have 8 excellent Maritime microbrewed beers on tap from the following breweries:

Boxing Rock Brewery (Shelburne, NS)
Uncle Leo's Brewery (Lion's Brook, NS)
Big Spruce Brewery (Nyanza, Cape Breton, NS)
The Granite Brewery (Halifax, NS)
Propeller (Halifax, NS)
Garrison (Halifax, NS)
Pumphouse (Moncton, NB)

PLUS: TERRY'S BEST BITTER IS NOW ON TAP!
A taste of Olde Anglia recreated on site! This eminently drinkable ale balances rustic, earthy notes and a strong malt backbone with a gentle hoppy bitterness and clean finish. Cask conditioning–a secondary fermentation process–naturally creates a softer carbonation for a full lush mouthfeel, and creamy head – it’s a real mustache-dipper. Dispensed in the traditional fashion, using the only hand-pump in Northern Nova Scotia!

We also have several other craft brews by the bottle, ciders, 9 different wines by the glass, half-litre, and bottle, a small but mighty cocktail list, and a healthy selection of whiskeys, ryes, Irish, and single malts.

The Townhouse kitchen makes almost everything we serve from scratch–pickles, chutneys, breads, desserts, patés, etc.– using the best natural ingredients. The few things we don’t make here, we source from excellent local suppliers:
- The Pork Shop’s smoked sausages & bacon,
- organic baguettes from Kingsville Farm,
- Knoydart Farm’s organic cheeses,
- pita bread from The Fancy Lebanese Bakery
- Antigonish and Guysborough Co. beef from Vacheresse’s,
- our fish and seafood are all Nova Scotian (excepting the tuna when out of season here),
- & whenever possible we feature local produce sourced from small local producers like Seabright Market Gardens, MacLennan’s Glen, Eastern Sun Farm, & Admiral Bayfield’s Gardens.

Our food takes a little more work, but we feel it’s worth it and hope you do too!
